wont start

Tried to start my car today and it wont even turn. I usually shake the shifter in park and it finally cranks. Im pretty sure its something with the transmission linkage cable or something. Well, since I can't move it, is there any way I can fix this myself?

It's your transmission range sensor, mine was going out an I replaced it and fixed all my starting issues. Look in rock auto. Com

My car would do it sometimes and I had to run it through the gets and put it back in park for it realize it was in park to start. Plus when your down there replacing it you have to adjust your shift cable to the transmission. I'd check on the cable first but I'm pretty sure that it could be the range sensor not telling the computer your in park

I replaced transmissions last year, didn't pull anything off the old one, maybe I should try that sensor on the old one to see if it does the trick?
