Tapping sound

Seven months ago I was out screwing around racing my buddies cummins he just got his emissions delete and a chip. We ran the first time and he beat me by a car I wanted a rematch so we turned around to go again. This time I was able to hit 20mph in what seemed like 20 secs my motor was sounding like a diesel and all of a sudden died on me I tried starting it up but it was overheated. We started checking fluids and no oil appeared on the dipstick so we picked up some oil and came back and topped her off took a lol over 3qts. By this time it had cooled off so I started it but it had a god awfull tapping sound which seems to increase with rpms. Any ideas on what it could be It sounds like its coming from the drivers side towards the front of the block

You've spun a rod/crank bearing. Time for a rebuild.

Yes, add to that, gasket set, new crank more than likely, possibly rods, machine work, rings and pistons, + labor, ect, ect, your better off buying a used motor.

There's a good chance you scarred your block in the process. You need a new motor

If your not made of money just rebuild it. Which I know your not so just rebuild it. On top of that you don't have to buy EVERYTHING at once. You also won't need to pay for labor either so cut that cost. Well except for maybe a few packs of beer and pizza haha

How did you not have any oil in the engine? Did you have a leak?

Just take your tome, label bolts and take pictures, its really a lot easier then you'd think. Just pay attention to small things like ground wires etc.
