01 gt knockin sound - Mustang Evolution

01 gt knockin sound

I have a 01 gt and I hear a lnockug sound that keeps going along with accelerating what could this be I unplugged each coil one at a time and found which cylinder it from and only coming from one cylinder the car still runs great

Yes in gear and in neutral

Just idling you can't hear it only while giving it gas anything over 2k

It really sounds like a lifter - judging by when its over 2k.. It sounds as if it's not pumping up. - if the lifter isnt pumping up, its not spinning. It could get ugly. I'd check it out asap.

My grandmas Monte Carlo had stuck lifter and it didn't effect anything. It made noise for over ten years and nothing bad ever happened. Just really embarrassing lol. But u never know, could last years or days.

Ya idk my buddy's says it could be a lifter or a rod bearing how hard are those to change

Idk. Opening the engine is never cheap, I know that. Someone else will have to help u on the details. A good low mileage motor isn't to expensive tho if u have to go that route, but always sucks.

Well my buddy is a mechanic and won't charge me to work in the car I just don't know what I should check out first

Difficulty of working on any car depends on your mechanical knowledge. Since your asking and that's a job for a that requires heavy mechanical knowledge I would say don't attempt it. I'd rather tell you be safe than sorry. It is decently labor intensive too. Take it to some one and get a quote.
