Pi Intake and Dorman

Will a Dorman intake work instead of a "pi" intake? It looks basically the same!

I've heard horrible things about the dorman intake and how the FRPP PI intake way outflows it and other things. I'd get the PI intake over the dorman anyday

The Dorman "PI" intake has the same lower plenum as the stock non-PI, it is of a lower total volume and does not breath as well as a real Ford PI-intake. It looks as though they grafted a PI top half mold to a non-PI lower half as a cheap way of production.

I bought one from a FLAPS as a "I would like to fix this now option" when my intake let go beneath the T-stat housing. Got it home, opened the box, took one look and brought it back. I should have taken a photo of the two, but didn't--here's one I found on the web.

PI on the left, Dorman on the right:

I'd spend the $200 and toss the Dorman in the trash...
