5.4L Rebuild

Sunday I picked up a 5.4L short block from bottlefed04. My plans are to do a rebuild. I have a local guy thats going to do all the machine work. Right now Im debating between forged or cast internals. I dont have very much money to fund this project but I dont want to regret it in the future. My goals are around 300hp wih around 340tq on a N/A setup. I want to have the option to run 8psi of boost later down the road. Would cast internals do fine with that?

If you want reliable boost you really should forge it. Cast guts will give you the 300/340s you want though. Check out modmax racing. Their 5.4 rotating assemblies are relatively cheap.

What's the limits of cast internals?

4.6 is supposedly around 350 RWHP.

Moving forward, got the internals out last week and today picked up some PI heads that have been rebuilt and ported.

You can run 10lbs on stock internals man. But if doing a rebuild just go forged. So when you you want more power just run more boost and not worry about it
