| My poor lady.
My car was stolen last night and they found her this morning. My insurance doesn't cover this because I have basic insurance and I still have 10 payments left.
What do you guys think I should do?

I'm kind of confused tho, you said your insurance doesn't cover it cuz you have basic insurance but your still making payments for the car? I thought when your financing and making payments you MUST have full coverage because its technically not your car till its paid and he title is signed, than you can do what you wish with the insurance

I have another car that's been sitting since December that I'm thinking about retagging/insuring and slowly fixing the mustang. Perhaps get the frame banged out, buy the replacement parts then finally fully repaint. I'm gonna wait to see what the body mechanic says and if he can work with me on pricing and payments which the guy who sent me to him said he would. He was also backed up by 4 other people for his work.

Your only option is to part the car out and you'll have to eat the rest.
How did it get stolen?

There's no fixing that properly or economically. Yes I know anything can be prepared, but it would cost so much. When you inspect it you'll find stress cracks all over. I'm surprised you were able to finance it without full coverage. I would never run flat base coverage. I pay less than 2$/ month for theft coverage.

OP, sorry to hear of your loss... Quote:
Originally Posted by primer2tone Your only option is to part the car out and you'll have to eat the rest. | He cannot legally part it out, or sell it, because he does not own it--until the remaining loan balance of $2300 is paid it belongs to the lien holder (presumably BH/PH dealer). And that is the saddest part, he still owes the $2300 regardless of what path is followed, and repairs will likely cost far more than that.
That said he might be able to part it out on the QT and use the money to make the loan payments. Or sell it as is, likely at a loss as it is not worth $2300, and make the seller aware they will have to work with the dealer to get the title, by paying off the loan with whatever he can sell it for plus some cash.

This is why I have no respect for criminals. You work hard to earn something and in the blink of an eye, it's gone. These ignorant pigs take what they want and will never earn anything.

It just occurred to me, how did they get by the PATS?
Unless the PATS is disabled in the tune our cars will not run without a programmed key, and there is no amount of jimmying the ignition lock or hot wiring that can change that.
That is why theft insurance is relatively cheap for PATS equipped cars...

That really sucks.
I'm not saying take vigilantly justice, but I would be bounty hunting someone right now. Just take it in stride though, things happen for a reason and something that is just as powerful for the good will happen. Life is funny like that.

I cried a little seeing this. I'd honestly part it out with our telling the finance company and than pay it off and bite the loss. When you get the title just forget about it.
