Burning oil

Okay my 2001 gt has started putting out a little blue smoke and it smells like burning oil. I have an off road X pipe with magna flow mufflers. I've never had a problem with the smoke or smell until now. And it doesn't smoke when I get on it but rather when I let off or taking off slow from a light. What could be causing it to burn oil?

Could be a range of things my friend, it could be oil getting by your valves and dripping into the cylinders, which you have to get new valve seals

Well it smells like oil.. I was guessing it was the valve seals but I wanted another opinion.

One slim possibility would be a bad PCV valve, if stuck open it could maybe pull enough crankcase vapor and oil mist to make it smoke as you describe--though the idle speed should be abnormally high if that were the case...

Yeah I thought about that but I wasn't sure how the PCV valve actually worked.. But the idle is the same.

Anyone know how much it would cost to get the valves seals replaced?

seals are cheap...it's the work that can be pricey. if you aren't planning to tackle this yourself i'd go ahead and start the price quote game with local shops...take the lowest bidder and recall everyone to see if anyone will beat that.

If you have to tear the motor down now would be a good time for other maintenance.
