Try some good rubbing compound first always use sand paper as last resort.

I also deleted mine and had some very nasty lines that wouldnt buff out no matter how much i tried so i said **** it and got some 3k grit wet sand paper and just lightly worked it till it was gone. Then the scratches are so tiny and hardly noticeable i just waxed em out.
