Strange noise in engine from 5500-6500

My engine is making high pitched whining noise at high rpms. not a squeel like belts. My car is a 2004 automatic with lots of mods my rev limiter is 6500. it has not affected my power though is it something to worry about. the engine is stroked.

Is the sound coming from the motor or from behind from the rear. And do you hear it with the windows up or down?

Sounds like a old school supercharger like a 871 blower a wired but cool whining sound. The windows up or down either way

Ok so it can be one of 2 things from the top of my head. One is what happened to me was the idler pulley bearings went bad and it did sound like i was supercharged lol. Other worst case scenario is the rear end. However go with the cheapest and easiest which is replace idler pulley

Cool! I will do that thanks for the info makes sense I just replaced the idler tensioner pulley and put new belt on it a few weeks back. When I get off my rotAtion of two weeks on and 1 week off I will buy a new idler pulley and see it that works.
