Paint crack?

Always had a tiny rock ding on the front of my hood that went down to the paint, well today I was closing my hood and noticed it just recently formed a hairline crack through where the rock chip is, is there a fix for this beside repainting the entire hood

You really can't notice it unless you look for it, but now it's driving me crazy, I absolutely refuse to repaint this hood, if that's needed ill just hold off and find me a cobra r hood

They don't bother you? My car has about 116k on it, PO averaged 10k a year when I bought it, huge selling point for me was how DAMN FLAWLESS the paint was, and its original paint too, the PO kept it in a garage and washed and waxed weekly, I feel like I'm just ruining the paint now arghhh..any fix you know of?

You can only really see them up close. If you stand 10 feet away from my car then it doesn't look like its 12 years old. I really want to keep this car forever because its a Bullitt, so if i do then one day i will get it fully repainted (Same color of course).

Oh, and they aren't as deep as yours, they are rock chips, but they aren't like cracks. more dimples.

I don't think so..

I can't really see the hairline crack. I would just touch up the chip and be done.

So my buddy admitted he sat on my hood the other night for a second, and I can now see a few cracks in the paint that can be felt with my fingernail..when you rub over the areas you can hear the paint crackling almost so I know it's going to start getting worse, I'm going to a few body shops this week for estimates, does anyone know what I can expect? Are they gonna hit me with the whole hood having to be stripped and re painted? Or can the certain areas just be fixed, the rest of the hood paint is I'm flawless condition

They'll probably want to re-paint the sides as well and blend the door.

Huh? Re paint what sides? There's no fix beside re painting the entire hood?

They will respray the hood but you will probably be able to tell. As for fixing the crack there really isn't anything you can do. It's a physical break and if any water gets in the crack the paint will start to flake off.

There's already water in it, when I rub it I can see water come out from the cracks...how much you talking for a hood re spray?

Right I should've stated they'll want to blend the front fenders and bumper to match. Anytime you paint a hood it will stick out . It's optional but they'll suggest it

Dang yeah like I said if they just sanded and repainted the hood it wouldn't look right. Red is a tough color.

just to paint the hood should be about $380
Add in the sides and bumper 1300

I bet you could get repainted for 3500-4000k

I was looking through your pictures I don't think it's that bad. I'd keep shopping around body shops.
