They are most likely actually lavender, if so they are the stock 21 lb/h injectors used in some late 2002, and the 2003 and 2004 models. Can your post a photo?

Have to see a picture first. Bosch calls them lavender, a darkish pink. However most men (myself included) only know 8 colors, 10 if you count silver and gold...

Peach is a fruit. Lavender is a flower or a type of horse or something.

99-04 GT Injectors are all the same lb rating

Don't believe some of these guys who claim pink is 21lb. It's a myth, I work at FORD

That is not correct, it is fact not myth.

Some very late 2002, and all 2003 and 2004 models came with the Bosch 0 280 150 561 injectors. These are rated 22 lb/h by Bosch, when tested at the industry standard at 43.5 psi (3 bar) differential pressure. However when run at 40 psi they will deliver 21.10 lb/h.

The earlier GTs had 19 lb/h orange injectors. I cannot lay my hands on the part number just now, however they were rated by Bosch at 20 lb/h (again at 43,5 psi), which when operated at 40 psi deliver 19.18 lb/h.

No changes were made to the injector slope scalar values in the tune, this is why the GTs equipped with the 21 lb injectors run pig rich in open loop mode. At high loads and WOT the air fuel ratios will drop to 11.x:1 and even into the high "10s". On these engines bumping the high slope to 20.8 or so, and the low slope to 26.5 will correct this...

I went back through my notes, the 19 lb/h orange injectors are Bosch p/n 0 280 150 556, or 0 280 150 943--as I said rated 20 lb/h at 43.5 psi, downsized to 19.18 lb/h at 40 psi per this formula:

While on the subject, here are some injector sizing tip...

So why would Ford change the injectors from 19 to 21?

Because after the embarrassment of the 1999 Cobra horsepower rating Ford began quietly reviewing the claimed HP for a number of other models, including the PI GT. In doing so they found that the 19 lb/h injectors--used since the 225 fwHP (flywheel HP) "5.0" pushrod engine--were running nearly flat out (90 to 95% duty cylce) at the 260 fwHP claimed for the PI 2V.

So in the late 2002 production, with no notice or fanfare, they changed to the 21 lb/h injectors which run at 80% or so d/c at 260 fwHP...

So would it be smart to upgrade to 21lb injectors if someone has 19lb on there PI 4.6?

Yes, however a tune is in order as well to alter the fuel injector low and high slpoe settings (this is true for all GTs that have the "pink" 21 lb/h injectors).

These are the settings I use for the 21 lb/h injectors (the highlighted values at the left are the new values, at the right are the stock values).

This will correct the absurdly rich mixture at high loads and WOT seen on the 21 lb/h equipped engines. I run the unfortunately now discontinued FRPP M-9593-AA302 24 lb/h injectors on my GT, they got me another 8 rwHP at the high end, here are the settings for those:

Ok that's good to know. I have a Diablo predator tuner could I tune it with that using those parameters ? Also can I use the factory mass air with the 21lb injectors?

The Predator does not allow access to low level parameters such as those, you need a professional level tuning system such as SCT Advantage or Delta Force Commando, etc.

The stock MAF will work fine, it can support up to 350 or so rwHP. I believe you are concerned due to the myth that MAFs are calibrated to work with a specific injector capacity--this is not so. What are called "calibrated" MAFs are devices that have had the output voltage curve manipulated so that one can run different injectors (usually larger) with a specific stock tune.

They are a kludge left over from the early days of EFI when it was difficult, or sometimes impossible, to modify a stock tune. Read more about "calibrated" MAFs (and why they suck) here.
