Gasket for Shifter

I installed my new MGW short Shifter. I used standard gasket material instead of RTV sealant because I hate having to pry things apart later, trouble is regular gasket material transmits alot of noise through the shifter, I want to make my own, similiar to a Cobra Bob gasket. Question is, what type of rubber like gasket material will hold up to tranny lube? Id like to use neoprene because its soft or even silicone material. Whatcha guys think?

Also, I installed a new pivot cup, is there suppossed to be any grease on that?

Everytime i have ever installed a shifter i have always greased the cup up good inside and out. I actually had a friend with an s2000 and his shifter wouldnt go into 6th then we just greased the pivot cup and fixed the problem thought it was wierd but i guess thats pretty important as far as the gasket goes idk.

Makes sense to me, my old one was so worn out I couldnt tell if it ever had any grease, I think Phoenix dries out everything possible...
