I would definitely go performance over appearance or sound.

Hah. Well, if your sound is already good, then just buy the tips. They're much cheaper than an aftermarket muffler.

I'm done with appearance. I'm just trying to figure out if ima go with performance or a new catback. I've been hearing the same sound for 3 years now. I need that new exhaust feeling

Yea, man. I really like the way it looks. Why not go with some headers? It would change the sound, and give you more performance than a cat-back system.

SLP LM's are awesome. I have had them for years. Quality is great and fit is perfect. Check out some youtube videos of them and it'll make you want them even more lol...

Best bang for the buck I think would be gears / tuner... but cai and catback / midpipe are good basics to start off in performance

Bbk Longtubes are the best as far as sound and gains go. I have BBKs x pipe and pypes exhaust and she sounds super mean!!! If you have a pretty good amount of money to spend, get a bama tuner too. That will be my next buy.

I would say gears and a tuner. The tuner is a nice upgrade and good bang for your buck. I personally don't have gears yet but wish I woulda done them before I did some other parts just because my friends have gears and it is like a whole different car with them and they are cheap especially of you do the work yourself. The gains you will see from headers you will get alone with the tuner if not a couple more hp and the gears you won't notice power but pure Acceleration.

+1. The only flaw on the gears is gas mileage. If you throw in some 4.10 gears, your mileage will drop dramatically. 3.73 gears aren't that bad. I have 3.73 in mine and I fill up about once a week which isn't too bad. You won't get the top of the line acceleration like you will with the 4.10 but still pretty descent. Throw some control arms and sway bars and you gets some descent acceleration due to traction.

Mileage only drops if you drive mostly highway. If you dive mostly city you could actually see a gain if you don't stand on it all the time

You would think that would be opposite... Usually you get better mileage on the highway. I wouldnt know for sure cause i have the 3.73 gears but thats what i have heard. And let's be honest, how many ppl DON'T drive their car like a bat out of hell. That's why we drive PERFORMANCE vehicle. To perform lol

You still get better highway mileage, it's just how they change with the gears. With 4.10s on the highway you will be sitting at around 2300 rpm and sucking the gas away, in the city the gear ratio will allow you to get to your OD gear a lot faster which will let you pick up a few mpgs.

Just remember, you will only get the better mileage if you are responsible with the throttle, if you stand on it all the time it's going to go down even more lol

Well that just depends on what you consider "standing on it" to be

Actually, no. I have 4.10s and I'm running 2,600 at highway speeds. 2,300 is about where 3.73s sit.
I run in 5th around town, and I get about the same mpg as before my gears.

Technically you do. But in 5th gear with stock gears your engine will be bogged down and won't let you accelerate at a certain point. The 3.73s and 4.10s allow your engine to work at a more efficient Rpm, so realistically your top speed increases. And really when do you ever hit too speed in your car? Come on now lol

---------- Post added at 06:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:23 PM ----------

There are people running 4.56 gears just fine

I'm actually going 4.56 also with the same mindset, when am i really going to hit TOP SPEED on the highway or city without a.) getting in a wreck b.) getting chased by the cops and car get impounded . My normal limit is around 60 to 75 rarely but never any higher than that. I do put my foot in it at times but not for long periods not where I'm gonna see a huge drop. Its crazy how we all talk about gas mileage but dude it's a Mustang its gonna eat gas regardless especially if you drive Fast = Less Gas... I want that speed off the line I'm not really interested in top speed or mpg ...
