Well you can either hide it or leave it near the boot. I put mine more towards the motor so if I changed shifters it's not in the way

Idk... Did you see the before pics when OP first got the car? It was all fast & furious body kit and fancy lights! The previous owner being concerned with, speed calibration? Some how that's lost on me. But if I'm wrong and that's what it is, I hope OP reinstalls it to look cleaner.

He probably tried to do it himself and didn't have to tools to secure it properly. I don't have a picture of mine but I got it off of latemodelrestoration.com I'll post one if I can get it

Haha no problem man. It wouldn't have hurt anything except your speedo would be off by about 10%

Yup, you're right, that looks exactly like it.

Now my question is, why would his speedometer be off by 10%?

Because something with the computer and transmission. You probably have a high gear ratio so it is still reading you have a stock one. Anytime you change the rear end gear it messed with the speedo. But it's 10% because of the change in gear. Like when I would do 50 I was actually doing 45. And if I was doing 90 I was really doing 81.

It's not going to be off by 10 mph the whole time. Older cars you change the pin in it to compensate for the change in gear

Couldn't a tuner, like an SCT tuner correct the speedometer in the strategy tune section or is that only for the newer mustangs?

Yep DSG is correct. I have one installed in the same place after I got my. 4.10s. Cheaper than buying a tuner.

But a tuner should be a first purchase anyway!

Agreed. Just a cheaper option if you can convince the wifey to drop $379 on a tuner.
