Censor?

So I started my car and it was idling really rough, and when/if it got calm it was idling at 500 rpm when it usually idles at like 750. When I was driving I went to shift and the car shut off. I started it again and same thing, every time I let off the gas it would shut off. So I had to power shift all the way home. Any ideas?

Try cleaning the iac(idle air contol valve) first and see if it fixes it. Also even though u may not have a cel on see if before u start the car lije the key on engine off if you even have a cel light at all. Idk the status of your car purchase wise i.e. rebuilt title or you had it or recently aquired it hence the question to your cel. That being said also clean the maf after if the iac doesnt do the trick. Also maybe it could be a tps sensor but try to rule out other things first before dumping money for no reason.

First check to make sure your CEL is working, when you turn the ignition on they should all light up. You would not be the first person who bought a car thinking the CEL was good because the shady previous owner removed the bulb.

Then, pull codes. Sounds like an IAC or O2 sensor issue. Might be something more serious but definitely sounds like a sensor.

Also... sensor... not Censor lol. Censor is like when they bleep out expletives even though its stupid and people need to stop being so goddam sensitive.

I've had the car for like 4 years now so it's not recently acquired. Also my exhaust appears to be a little loose, idk if that has anything to do with it. But my only upgrades are intake and exhaust. Ill try to see if the cel is working here in a bit.

ok so exhaust being loose could also be a cause, depending on if its loose b4 or after the o2 sensors upstream, however if the cel light is off my best advice, take it to autozone and get the codes read, then post the codes here and we would all be more than happy to help you resolve your issue and get you back on the road to enjoy the stang to the fullest.

Exhaust was loose before, and it's not drivable so i can't get the codes read. It shuts off right after I turn it on.

you can have someone drive you to an autoparts, have them let you borrow their code reader, it would require you to give them your license to hold on to, read the codes, jot them down and post up, then ofcourse return the obd2 reader. depends on how far you are from one and if its easily available.

that or if you know any other mustang owner with a tuner they can read your codes for you, doesnt require them to do anything special or have to return their car to stock just to read codes off your mustang, i do it usually with my locked tuner.

So I went and bought a code reader, and it is reading 0 codes. When I turn my car on it turns off right after it starts. I can keep it running if I have my foot on the gas the whole time, any ideas of my problem?

Have you tried any of the previous suggestions on sensor cleaning (MAF, IAC)? I would definitely start there if you aren't getting any check engine codes. It is also odd that the CEL light is out completely. That always smells fishy.

Carb cleaner on the sensing element, or denatured alcohol. Don't wipe them or anything, just spray the element and allow them to dry.
