Pinging

I have pinging issues when I run regular or midgrade fuel. Is there a way to adjust the timing on the 97 gt

How many miles on the car, what mods, do you know the vehicle's history. Driving like a granny ("babying it") can cause carbon build-up that can cause pre-ignition. When were the plugs last changed, excessive plug gap can make them run hot and cause pinging as well. What brand, type and heat range are the plugs?

Timing can only be changed in the tune, or with a device like the Steeda timing adjuster...

I have shorty headers on it. A cold air intake system. A holly 90 mill throttle body with a bbk plenum. I've owned the vehicle for about 10 years now. There is roughly 200,000 kms on it. It's a 5 speed. I run her pretty good. Lol

I would pull the plugs and see if they show signs of running hot--even if they don't i would replace them with a set of Motorcraft AGSF-32-PM, or Champion 3401 single platinum plugs.

I have to ask, why such a huge TB? Unless you are running one whole lot of boost (which would mean the iridium plugs are a very bad choice) it is unnecessary and will actually hurt WOT performance--70 mm is all any n/a 4.6L 2V needs, on a non-PI engine like your '97 the stock 65 mm is plenty big.

What engine mods do you have?
