02 GT Bogging Down

I just finished installing my MGW SS and I went to test drive it around the block, keep in mind it started raining really hard, I was working under a car port but I just wanted to test it around the block. The car started making a small wining sound and bogging down to 500 rpms, I had to stop, put it into first and get it moving again. I made it back home but its raining really hard not sure what caused this. Could it have anything to do with the rain or the MGW SS?

I thought maybe something got wet it wouldnt cut out but I cant imagine how a shifter would cause air/fuel issues for the engine to not idle/run correctly.

I can guarantee its not the shifter unless you installed it all kind of wrong.
I would say maybe you sucked up some water if you went through a puddle or something or like you said got water on a COP or other electrical component.

Should I just let it sit and dry out? I mean not much I can do with the rain right now, but when its not raining what should my next course of action be?

Could it be water in my fuel tank?

If water is in your fuel tank I'm sure your check engine light would be on for the evap system. If you have a leak in the gas tank that would alter the pressure it has and your car would basically run like crap.

I doubt that is what it is. Just unplug the negative end of the battery and let it reset. If it still messes up could be a plug or coil pack.

Yeah, let it reset.

Also, could be a dirty IAC. Mine began to bog down one day in a parking lot, then the CEL turned on, I cleaned my IAC and no probs since.

Okay so I reset battery and then I started her up. She's running fine and now I'm going to try and get used to this MGW shifter. It is sick.

Super precise and crisp. I'm afraid I might miss 5th tho

And most importantly thanks everyone

Also I'm guessing it was the rain because I hit a puddle I tried to avoid but the huge truck took up the entire center of the two lane road and I tried to slow down but I didn't have enough time my front left inner splash guard broke from the car I zip tied it back in place

I'm betting that puddle screwed you up. That's a gorgeous photo by the way.
As for missing 5th with the MGW, you won't. You really can take your time going into 5th anyways since its an overdrive gear and your rpms need to drop quite a lot. I usually take a full second or more to go to 5th from 4th when I need to use it.

I couldn't agree more. Dad's 07 has a Hurst and I HATE that damn shifter. It's like trying to push the shift handle through concrete, I have to actually engage my traps and delts to move that thing.
