Couldnt catch traction

I went to the strip lastnite and couldn't catch traction. I'm thinking its cause I lowered my car. I have 3.73 gears lower control arms and a street 275 40. Any suggestions?

Very popular brand. They usually run a little more narrow than other brands. But their dr are a good tire. Just might not last very long.

I have 315/35/17 555Rs and 4.10s. The only time mine spin anything more than just a chirp is in the rain. I can dump the clutch at 3,000 and hook every time. They chirp 2nd and 3rd with full throttle shifting, but that's it.

Nitto 555 street tire is enough to cut a really good 60'. The 555r would be nuts

In all honesty

Nitto sucks ,

I bought the 555 for my GT and it was basically a slip and slide tire

I bought 555R for my pro stars and it was okay,
Sold them after a month of having because daily driving was bad.

Bought the 555R again recently and the life span was 2-3 months tops ! And I rarely ragged on them !!

I just spent 1200 on Nitto Invos , which I have right now, and it's okay.. But I wish mickeythompson made a DR for my wheel size,y buddy has the drag radials 315-35 and he's always racing and buring out, And they still have a lot of meat on them.

I think you have bad luck.
I have 315/35/17 and 245/45/17 555Rs and I've never had them slide out from under me unless I told them to, even with 4.10s. Wet conditions don't count.
I've had them for 15,000 miles and they still have a lot more to go.
I agree, Hoosier, MT, BFG G-force, or Michelin Pilot Sports are much better tires, but for the price Nitto has been great for me.
I'm sorry you've had bad experiences with them.

Don't forget tire life....nittos may not hook as good as BFg etc but nitto 555r will last much longer typically. Not always the case but in most cases

U had used 555rs on mine 315/35/17 and they lasted more than 8 months. And they were used (about 5000 miles) when I got them. And if my stock mustang could spin 555rs anyone else's can

You just said it, IRS does wonders for launch unless you have a drag suspension setup on your SRA

It's stock at about 330 to the wheels. So yes 450 is a decent amount. It's not the most by no means but decent. My buddy has a kb termi that has 675 and that is basically undrivable on the street

Termis actually put down around 360 stock. Ford underrated them at 390 to the crank. They pretty much have the same amount of power to the crank as a 5.0

That's what I meant. I mean you don't see many stock terminators

Oh yeah a pulley swap is the first thing anyone does. That's almost a 100 horse power more just with a easy swap

My car made 404/396 stock tune. Catback/intake were only mods. Bfg kdw2 hooked decent at that power level. At 500 it was slip and slide. Toyo r888 fixed that issue.
