New engine wont run!!!

We put a new engine in my 02 GT and forgot to unplug the fuel pump when we primed it now it wont idle. you need to give it gas to start it and it sounds like your making popcorn in the intake manifold possible gas burning off? The rpm's will hang around 4K sometimes once you get it to start and it smells like gas and smokes like its full of carbon but everything is new. Does it sound like a possible cracked intake manifold or major vacuum leak or is it possible the intake is full of gas? Any ideas would greatly be appreciated!

Open one of the plugs and crank the motor and check if you flooded it with fuel. Make sure you unplug the fuse to the fp or you could just bang the inertia switch as well lol. How did you prime the oil pump btw?

We unplugged the coils so it wouldn't fire and cranked it over.

+1 reason i asked because hes right u unplug coils yet u dump gas into it. I know to prime u either disable the pump or use the factory way to disable it you presss the accelerator all the way down before you put the key on then turn key and start or rather crank while still holding the pedal down. Thats how i primed mine when i replaced it. its a safety feature which shuts down coils and fuel.

It got over looked I've disabled the fuel on many engine builds just not this one. The good thing is we figured it out bad intake manifold gaskets replaced them with oem and it seems to be fixed!
