I drove a 2000 SVTC as a fun beater/child carrier for awhile and now I drive a very high mileage Mazda 6 as a beater. IMO a beater should be a car you drive in place of driving something nicer and keep said something nicer in reserve so you aren't car-less.

With that said I have 5 cars currently. The SVTC which is down for maintenance, that Mazda, my wifes CR-V, the 98 GT and a 2003 Expedition that we drive to dog shows with our Wolfhound and Ibizan Hound. Does that qualify me for redneck status? None of the cars are hidden by 4' tall grass or anything... lol.

Anyway on a serious note, I might be in the same boat here in soon. I just got my MRI results for me left knee today and the cartilage damage is worse in 2 yrs time. So I might have to bail on stick shifts altogether and get rid of my 98... Which sucks because the car I REALLY want to get back into is another low mileage clean 94/95 Cobra and those are all 5 spds. Or I'll just get an 04 Mach auto and be done with it. Blah...

For the OP selling the Bullitt I still say get a SHO.
I guess it's time to swap in an auto

Hah, gotta wait until at least this time next year. And even then it would be hard to convince the wife to get a $30k+ car when I would be perfectly happy with a $15k mach or a $9k 5.0 Cobra lol.

Your excuse is you can't drive the manual anymore and need an automatic.

Unfortunately I married someone as smart or smarter than I am. I always tell her I should have found a dumb hot one instead lol.

I have be doing some research, and the wrx hatchback has similar interior room compared to the 05-08 Legacy. So I'm starting to consider ordering a base new base wrx hatchback, they run just shy of 26k new. If I looked at a SHO, it would have to be used, since a 40k car is out of my budget. But I've found a couple for around 25k with 40k miles. I'm still focusing on wagons for the extra utility though, but nothing is off the table right now.

So do you know if you will have to sell the Bullitt yet?

Unfortunately I'm about 99% positive I won't be able to keep her. I'll need the money for a large down payment so I won't have much of a monthly payment.

Sell her to someone you know that way you may be able to buy her back later.
