Water Pump ?s

I cracked the plastic cap on the end of the water pump. Is that an important piece or does it really matter?

My car is a 1998 Mustang GT 4.6

Yeah. Doesn't seem crucial, but i just like having everything there that's suppose to be there. But thats just how i am. How'd you crack it??
