Who would win?

A kid at my school talks a lot of garbage about how fast he thinks his truck is, its a chevy s10 with a 350 swap which he claims to be on corvette level power, he is hungry to race my gt with 5 speed, exhaust, and CAI. What do you guys think the outcome would be?

I doubt he will make much traction at launch.

Not sure where this will be taking place at but don't post anything about street racing.

I dusted a 2012 Colorado ss that had full exhaust, cai and a tune. Those are 5.3 tho. But then again I was in a stock 03 5spd gt. there's a guy here that has a 350 in an s10 and he's running mid 13s all day. I doubt that kids is that quick. Post slips!

Racing at the strip I'm hoping. Not worth it or cool risking peoples lives on a public street

I only race at the strip, i wont ever risk another persons life on the street. He claims the truck is close to corvette power but he never said which vette. It could be c4 performance for all i know. he Is terrrible at driving normal so i doubt he would be any good at the track

Does the 350 have any work done? If so he's going to romp you. If he just yanked it out of a 1500 and stuck it in his s10 then he's going to spin, and not make enough HP to play catch-up.

The 350 was put in a lot of cars. My friends 69 firebird has a stock 350 in it and he runs 16s. Now my dads 03 Corvette also has a 350 in it and its a hell of a lot faster.

There is a difference in a crate 350 and a ls1

This. Displacements may be the same on a lot of them, but when I see "350" I associate it with SBC, not LS series motors.

Yeah there is a huge difference. Ls1 is actually I think a 346 or something but puts out like 375 and a crate puts out like 275 or something unless you build it better

I've got a crate 383 that we bored to a 389 that puts out 550 roughly and the heads and bore added a tremendous more than before

I agree with what your saying but when the idiot politicians shut down KCIR the closest strip is over 70 miles away..... Corn field roads are our friends here in the KC area..... unfortunately not all of the people are smart enough to find a back road, they are the ones you need to worry about.

And that's why I asked if the motor had work. H/C/I on a SBC in an s-10 will whomp one of our 2v's.

Yeah I have a buddy here that runs low 12s and can squeak into the 11s with a ls1 with a cam and head work. I wouldn't race one if you don't know about it. If you hear a cam be weary

---------- Post added at 04:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:24 PM ----------

I know a cam doesn't always mean a lot of power but a ls1 has a distinct sound with a cam and a ls1 with a cam can push over 450 to 500 if tuned right

Well.. phone double posted. But yeah LS is a whole different ballgame. That kid's S10 is a SBC though, id bet money. Still, H/C/I on a dinosaur small block is still faster than a 2v

Yeah if it's in the low 13s he may be able to out drive him and depending on his gears depends if he will pull top end. Usually trucks like that run a 4.56 or at least 4.10s

Exactly, you said he had a 350, did he say what type of 350? (That's the point I was trying to make with my last post)

Most of them hang around the high 12s/low 13s with light with on a 350 sbc. Highly considered this project myself (although I'd just buy a 383 crate)

Yeah a 383 crate can come with 500 if its a stroker. Great cam in it to begin with and decent heads. And he didn't say what kind but many s10s do a ls swap because its easy and common

All he said about the motor was that it has an edlebrock intake, no heads or cams.

What did the 350 come out of? And what gears and tranny does he have?

I can almost bet that he only has about 250 to 275 horse power. If he doesn't have heads or a cam a 350 really isn't anything special. I'm more of a Chevy guy but love mustangs so my knowledge is more into Chevy. I got a Chevy c10 I'll race you in it's not a 350 though lol
