A v6 is a great starter, most of us here started on a 6 and worked our way up.

I bought an 02 v6 and drove it through college. I beat on that car like I was renting it and never had an issue I didn't cause. I sold the car in 08 with 110k miles on it. Factory battery, belt etc.
It's on its second owner since me and still going strong.
