I say keep the Stang for 2 reasons -

#1 - I don't think the new GTO's look better than the Mustang. I love the power and ability to build them but they just aren't a beautiful muscle car, well, to me anyways.

#2 - Do NOT buy a salvage title ANYTHING. It's not worth it. Resale is horrible. I saw a guy selling a 2003 Cobra that was turbo, custom paint, etc etc. EASILY would have been a 30k + car and he had it listed for 13k FOREVER. Nobody would buy it because of the salvage title.

Damn, your guys insurance rate is crazy.

I have full coverage on a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, 2009 Ford Escape XLT, 2002 Mustang GT, and a 2004 Suzuki GSXR 1000 and it's only $180 a month. Plus I have tickets lol I just turned 30 though. :\

My 1998 GT costs me $20/mo to insure lololololol.

I would only buy a salvage vehicle in an exceptional circumstance, this is not one of them. That is a shady *** "friend" trying to sell you a salvage title GTO for $15k... If he REALLY wants to move it he'll knock 50% off the KBB price right off the bat and negotiate from there. And he will likely have trouble selling it even then.

I'm pretty sure 600 dollars means 600 for 6 months. Not one. I'm 21 and I have been arrested for laying drag (don't judge me ), 4 tickets and mine is only 120 a month. You must have miss understood

If u knw some1 that can change the vin number not saying its Legal to do that but you can get a normal tittle that way has to be same year and make and if anyone ask u why the door and engine stamps don't match the vin then I would say ( u got parts from another but must ppl don't look) that would be my advice and tell your friend that u give him 5500 because hell never sale the car. Food for thought you can get tittle and vins from local junk yard

GTOs are slow, but it's faster than what you have .. It looks decent. The plus is that it comes with mods

So...commit fraud and risk serious jail time?
Surely you're joking.

Coming from someone who has owned two GTO's (an 04 and 05) they are a great car.
As for the comments about weight, they weigh 3700 lbs. IDK about you guys, but have you ck the weight on a O3 Cobra, or S 197 anything? They're just as portly.

I digress. You look like you've made your mind up a bagillion replies ago, but if you change your thinking:

GTO's have inherent issues that are big problems when they break.
#1. The key wears out the ignition switch, and one day you get in and you cannot start the car.....period. You have to replace the entire freakin' column. Salvage yardsknow this,...so consequently,..you pay big.
#2. The IRS rear ends are crap. the half shafts are wusskin, and the center diff is prone to bearing failure from even mild abuse.
#3. The 6 speed is also prone to wierdness,...hard to get into R, 2, 4, and 6 sometimes.

AND...Salvage titles mean almost certainly you will have trouble reselling.

Good way to end up in jail. Even if you did, the new title would be a salvage coming from a junk yard.
