door bell

Does anyone know where the bell/dinging box sound is coming from when key is in and door open? Ive been trying to get rid of that annoying dinging sound

Not sure bout cars but ford ecoline vans have the wire running to the door to activate the chime when the door is open. I used work for a ambulance service and had to cut the wire to deactivate the door chime. It was so annoying "Shhhh"

It is in the GEM (Generic Electronic Module)...

I had to look this up, I did it 6 years ago just after getting my '03 GT...

All "key-in-ignition" warnings can be disabled by removing the warning switch--here is the procedure (disconnect the battery first):

Good lord Cliffy, where do you find this stuff? The bell in my truck stopped working a while back and soon thereafter, I developed a nasty habit of leaving the keys in the ignition and locking the door. Lol.
