High Rev Bad ?

Is taking the Rpms to 6-7K on a daily basis neccesarly bad for the engine ?
I don't rag on my car but when I need to get up and go ill take it to around 6,200-6,500 ..

I've heard some comments about the oil pump gears going bad ..

Any thoughts ?

I mean it's not like I race from stop light to stop light, ill cruise it around 2-4k on the highway .. Depending on traffic ..

I'm just asking how bad is it to just do a couple pulls in the week.

Beating on your car that often isn't good for it, that's for sure. I also doubt it's going to grenade because of it. The 4v's are safer at higher RPMs, but I usually save anything above 4500 or so for drag racing. If you need to hit over 6k just to get into traffic or something, you're driving like a crazy person.

I wonder the same, I take mine daily to about 4k-4.5k rpm, Never really hit the rev limiter until I got a bit more comfortable with the car about a month or 2 ago, now I find myself hitting the rev limiter about once/twice a week..2v here tho

At least once or twice a day for me... How bad is that for the engine? Does it really put that much strain on the engine?

+1, cops in my town all drive the 4.6s, and you can hear how HARD they drive those things, and most have to have upwards of 200k on them

As long as you properly maintain it. I don't hit my 4v that high every day. Usually maybe 5k

The factory tune has really mild timing and a rich A/F radio at WOT and high load so you can beat the crap out of your car without really beating out very much crap.

It scares you, that it might crack.

It just really depends how strong your motor is. Maintenance it right, it'll treat you good.
