Gears don't effect mpg in the city like you think. Just more so on the highway. It's driving style that will kill it

I was pleasantly surprised by the mpg of my Bullitt. After a major tune-up, it gets around 20 mpg mixed city/highway, and on a recent long trip, it pulled off 26 mpg for the round trip average. Those numbers rapidly diminish if the car gets driven hard, though.

I can get about 26mpg, but that's straight highway and with the cruise control on. Lol. But that's boring, so me and my massive lead foot get only about 22 on the highway!.. Lol.

That last fillup wasn't bad for all city driving. Do a tune-up and you'll be there...

Just going to say, we drive Mustangs here!.. If you are concerned with getting good MPGs, then go get a pos Prius!.. Lol. If you want something with Big Hairy Balls, then keep driving the Mustang!.. In my humble opinion, all other cars suck!!... Lol.

But that's just me. Lol

We aren't concerned about it. I knew going into the purchase I wouldnt get good mileage... It's just nice seeing what you can get out of your car. Obviously I'm doing something right if I average 13 lol

I got 19.6mpg hand calculated on my last tank beating on it pretty good. 3.73 gears and I when I do drive it long distance it is usually to work where I go 50-60mph on county roads at 1800-2000 RPM. I got 24mpg on my old Cobra ALL THE TIME when it had the stock 3.08 gears. These cars get way better gas mileage than ppl think. I mean look at the LS series pushrods that GM has that get ridiculously good mileage. Granted their numbers are in a wind tunnel with a professional driver but IRL they still get great mileage.

Yeah. I don't care for MPG. Just people kept telling me the gt will be using more gas than my v6. Clearly I proved them wrong. I love my GT.

I average 15 in the city. I'm sure with my little excursion I had the other night I probably got 7mpg driving down the hwy, but whatever. Normal avg is 15cit/26hwy when I go <65. I know I need a tune up and I just fixed a major issue with my rear breaks that was probably causing me some mpgs

My 97 GT averages

My 97 GT averages 12.5 village driving. Can't even call it city because a fast speed is 50kph.
