Coil on plugs

I'm needing to buy some new coil on plugs for my 2000 mustang gt. What kind of cop's should I get? American muscle has the msd blaster coils for 379.99. Does anyone recommend them or not? Will they last? Please help!

ONLY AND I MEAN ONLY GET THE MOTORCRAFT. I just did mine and it is like a completely new car. Took me 15 min for all 8

---------- Post added at 07:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:27 PM ----------

Any other brand other than the stock motorcraft are known to misfire out of the box and go bad after 10,000 miles....

---------- Post added at 07:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:27 PM ----------

Part number is d503 I think

There's no pro to get better then motorcraft unless your running one crazy modded 4.6 oem replacement is more then enough..

Thanks for the info. That's what I was wondering. Is it possible to get only the ones that are bad or is it better to just get them all together?

I had two go bad and figured if two went bad then the others could go bad soon. I replaced all and it was roughly 400. Took me 15 min

Not quality wise.. It's kinda like a coil pack.. You don't really need anything more then stock..

If a cobra can go 750 horsepower on a stock coil then there is absolutely no reason at all to go to a "performance" one. You see no gains really

I was going to buy the msd coils from advance because there's an online discount and I can get the set for 329.99 right now. But since everyone says they fail I guess I won't?

Best coil plugs are the OEM , a aftermarket are just a waste of money.

The best deal I have found is summit 52.99 each. Are there any discount codes that I could use?

Rockauto has them for $43 before shipping. The $52 ones on summit are for a 4v, you want part number dg508 for a 2v. 543 is for 4v.

rockauto.com

Almost idiot proof ordering system that is actually oeganized by trim unlike summit. If you would have bought those $52 COPs from Summit you'd have got the wrong ones even though it says 4.6L V8. Fails to say WHICH 4.6L V8... I've never had any problems and I've been ordering from them for years. I have actually not ordered anything FROM summit for years either although I never had a problem when I did.

Usually I only order from them if they have exactly what I'm looking for.. For a lower price

Might as well do a complete tune up then. Plugs, coils, new filters all around, and you probably could do the seafoam

I just changed the spark plugs, the oil, coolant, and fuel filter. Now I guess I need the coil on plugs! 400 dollars! Damn!

---------- Post added at 09:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 AM ----------

It also has a k&n air filter with less than 5,000 miles on it!

Just buy one or two and keep doing trial and error till you find the one misfiring. Saves a lot of money but take a lot longer

Eh, then they start going out one at a time and you'll be chasing down bad COPs for months. If you have the $$ just replace them all at once and call it good for another 100k. I love my 98 with coil packs... they almost never go bad and plug wires are cheap haha.

Yeah I went ahead a bought all 8 from rock auto! They had the best prices by far! Thanks for telling me about them! Sometimes I wish the car just had spark plug wires! They rarely go bad and even if they do they are not as expensive.

Nope, I don't like the COPs anyway, give me my coil packs any day. I see 0 disadvantage to the coil packs at all, even for engine bay cleanup, just hide the packs behind the intake and run the wires with some nice stainless looms. Also the COPs can have spark breakup issues in real high revving engines. For 99% of ppl this is not an issue but something to think about if you ever want to push past 7-7500rpm.
