Do the 4.10 give you the "push back in the seat" feel?

3.73 and 4.10s do. I like 3.73 more but for auto 4.10s are better

Honestly the car would shift about 1% sooner than 4.10s lol

4:10 gears, torque converter, weight reduction, and a tune will help out.

4.10s are not too much for a stick... Have you ever driven a 4.10 equipped stick shift car? Really not THAT much difference, just have to shift faster and you rev higher obviously. But if you tool around town alot you can save gas by rolling around in 5th at like 35mph. Don't fear the gear.

Higher gear that 4.10s? You can go up to 4.56s, hell some guys with ridiculous combos and huge back wheels go over 5.xx...

They are too much unless you have slicks..... Plus a Mustang GT with 4.10s can't make up for the fact they are not very powerful. I just took my Mach 1 out and I cant drive it hard yet since the engine only has 370mi on it since the rebuild (I never floored it today pry around 80% was all I went to). It would blow the doors off my 02 GT 5 speed with 4.10s even off the line! 4.10s are great if you want to make the tires squeal but that's about it. Plus you run out of gear at 100mph and we all know what 5th is like...... Day 5 of having my Mach and I just went 106ish in it, faster than I ever had my 2v lol (there is a closed road near me that is not very long)

Lol sorry for getting of subject, if you have an auto go with 4.10s, they will make it pull like a train compared to the stock 3.27s.

If you prefer a lower gear that is what you prefer but does not change the fact that plenty of modular guys run 4.10s and sticks no problem. If you blow the tires off taking off from a stop then get better tires, better suspension and learn to feather the clutch. If you out of gear in 4th before the 1/4 mark you can up the tire diameter out back a bit. You can get a 4.10 equipped car a lot faster than 106 lol.

Did the motor in the Mach let go? And nobody ever said a gear change makes a GT faster than a Mach 1..

I just bought the mach, the person who traded it in had a blower on it and the engine was shot so ford rebuilt the whole engine. I know no one was saying that. I just never know how much if a difference there was between the 4v and 2v, no matter gears.

Uh yeah the 4V is pushing way more power NA lol. The 4V DOES use the same rods/pistons unless its a terminator so it can't take any more power in that regard but a Mach with just bolt ons is an 11 second car... very easily if its a stalled auto with the stupid Automatic Mach 1 factory tune modified to not suck lol. A bolt on GT is a mid-high 12 second car. Once you start getting into bigger mods and boost especially the playing field starts to level out but that's another thread...

As for the 4.10s vs 3.73s vs whatever gear... again its all about the driver's driving habits and what is ok for them. There are PLENTY of both 5.0s and 4.6s with 4.10s both stick and auto. 4.10s really aren't that much shorter than 3.73s... a few hundred RPM on the highway and you might actually find they are better for around town as I have mentioned for running in 4th at 25mph and 5th at the 35mph mark.
