Yet anoher problem..

Arghhh after finding out today I have a rear differential pinion seal leak today, I decided to run some errands in the stang with the girlfriend, went to Walmart, picked up all the goodies for an oil change tomorrow, left and got some Rita's Italian ice, after I needed gas so I filled up, upon leaving I got the horrible smell of gas the whole way home, as I pulled into my driveway I knew something wasn't right, I got out and I could just hear what sounded like a slow streaming hose hitting the ground, get to the back of the car and gas is POURING all over my driveway, now it's sitting out there with buckets catching the gas ...pisses me off, I got under there and it's definitely leaking from the filler neck gasket...AHHH lol I'm sure the tank has to be dropped for this job, and I'm sure it won't be cheap.

Soo many mixed answers on that, some say drop it some don't..from what I can tell when I was under there I can probably work without the tank dropped

I've had to do this job a few times on my car twice and on a buddies car as well.

You might have to lower your tank. I did it one out of three times without dropping the tank and that was the one time the gasket broke and I had to do it a second time.

I think the two people that said they didn't have to drop their tank have earlier years but I'm about 90% sure if you have a 99-04 your best bet is to drop the tank it's really easy only took me 45 minutes to drop, replace, reinstall. Having a second pair of hands to help guide the filler neck in and out of the tank is the easiest. But I did mine again last week with three jacks and a lot of lube on that gasket.

Good luck pm me if you need help!

Sunab!tch...lol changed my oil today, when I put it up on ramps more fuel starting leaking out so gave me a chance to get the pic of it actually dripping from the grommet..tank is still full and I'm not the type to just waste the gas to do the job, probably gonna take me a week or 2 to run all the gas, after my research I'm def gonna do it in my driveway with a buddy for an extra set of hands

Yeah buy the gasket from the ford dealership too. It was $18 at my local dealership.
