Shift kit

Will a shift kit from 98 GT fit an 03 GT transmission? I have a 98 that's transmission just went out and I've got an 03 transmission on the way to be here in 2 days. I already have a shift kit I was going to install in the 98 transmission before it went out.

The reason I'm asking is that the guy at the part store said that he thinks the 03 has electronic shift with 3 solenoids and the 98 only has 1 solenoid.

I've looked into J mods, but me and drilling have never really worked out well :/

I've heard that the best thing to do with the 4r70w is the jmod

I'm trying to avoid doing the jmod because I already have the shift kit and I don't want to mess something up by drilling the wrong spot.

Another issue for your 98 will be that the 03 trans will not have a vss provision which your 98 uses. You will have to swap over the tail shaft and housing from your 98 trans to the 03 trans which is not a huge deal.

As far as the shift kit goes, the 97.5-03 transmissions are the same besides the vss provision. 96-97 autos are not as good but you should not have to worry about that. And if its transgo kit... return it and do the jmod. The jmod not only is great as a "shift kit" it has a bonus of extending the life of the trans and will go into gear much faster too, not just shift faster. There is a very detailed how to video on YouTube, I'd just watch that and see what you think.
