Right now I have 2.25. Would it make it louder?

3" is for a forced induction v8. You'll lose alot of velocity and get stacking if your not.

Does this mean that a V6 with a V8 cat back will cause faultys in the cars running status?

I don't know what he meant by stacking but the velocity of the exhaust gases would be extremely slow coming out if that size pipe. I don't think it will make it any louder but it may change the tone

It sounds horrible I've heard it in person. I wouldn't open up the exhaust anymore until you go FI

Most people don't go over 2.5in unless there going to go FI. I dont think it wont make it any louder due to the lack of air in the system.
