Mach 1

I drive a 2000 Gt convertible with 116,000 miles and I need to replace the top. I found a 2003 mach 1 with 45,000 miles on it for $13,500 and I'm debating on selling the gt and buying the mach 1. The good thing about the gt is that it's paid for and I don't have a car payment. If I sell it ill need a loan for the mach 1 and ill be making payments again. Is the mach 1 a good deal?

Some do, some don't they changed over sometime in 2003. It's a good idea to do the cooling mod regardless.

I also found a 99 cobra with 64,000 miles for $12,000. What's a better deal? Mach 1 or Cobra?

Mach 1 is newer and has less miles, also 1500 more. I would do the mach. I found my 99 cobra for 6500 with 73k miles

They're both good deals if they're in condition appropriate for the mileage. Honestly the 99 Cobra vs the 03 Mach really comes down to do you want an IRS or not. They are, for all intents and purposes, the same car other than that.

Mach looks more aggressive with the shaker and less miles. Go for the Mach

The cooling issue with the heads was addressed mid year of 2003. Look for a blue mark on the drivers side head.

Looks are all what the person buying likes more. I'd argue that the Cobras look better with that front spoiler than the Mach does with the shaker.

Yep, 99, 01, 03 and 04 Cobras all had IRS. The Terminators got the best one but you can upgrade the half shafts and the diffs in the 99/01s to make them just as stout. Wheel hop is the big killer for the IRS anyway and an upgraded set of bushings/mounts from FTBR fixes that.

Yep and there were still reported issues even in the 04 cars. Head cooling mod is a good idea regardless of what 4V you have. Can't hurt anything.

Not necessary on mid 03 (with blue mark on heads) and 04 Mach's unless you are doing a lot of racing or you are FI, etc. If you can do the mod yourself, then maybe something to do, but would be pretty expensive for a shop to do it. Tranny has to come out to do the cooling mod.

Ok I guess I'm lying lol. That kit goes on without removing the trans. Its right in the directions if you don't believe me or the ppl I know (IRL and online) who have done cooling mods without pulling their trannies.

edit: Here's a thread I dug up from SVTP to illustrate if you don't believe me

Yeah they're all not created equal, the one I linked to is an updated unit where you do not have to remove the trans as that was one of the biggest complaints. We can go through internets info wars all day, there's a guy I work with who has a yellow Mach who has done this mod and he did not pull the trans to do it.
