Good clutch for t-45?

It's for my 2001 DD and I drive a lot so I want something smooth but still a good strong clutch.. Any opinions or stories?

Excedy is what I went with and no complaints whatsoever. Holds great, much stiffer but it's better than stock

Then oem is maybe what you're looking for. I believe all aftermarket are stiffer than stock

The King Cobra is rated much higher than OEM but retains the OEM clutch pedal stiffness. Again... get the King Cobra...

A big question that hasn't been asked is what are the plans for the car? If it's just a DD then why go with an aftermarket clutch?

Well exhaust/tuner/MGW/373/cai/TB/plenium/315s on the back is what will be done with it, but still a DD

10.5" King Cobra clutch kit

11" King Cobra clutch kit

NOTE, and I'm mad I forgot about this, YOU HAVE A CHANGEOVER YEAR as far as clutches go. Check the trans code on your door sticker. If you have a 6 for the trans code you use the 10.5" clutch, if not you use the 11" clutch. Or just get a new flywheel for whatever clutch you want lol.

Well just any stock replacement clutch would do. If you want peace of mind then you could go with a stage 1 clutch. If you don't plan on a crapload of power then a stage 2 or up is not really necessary.

He should just get either of the KC clutches I posted. Whatever one his car calls for since 2001 was the bastard changeover year.

Well it's the t-45 so wouldn't it be what ever one fits that?

Stock one should hold just fine. But biased against the King Cobra clutches though.

Like I said in the other post, you have to check your trans code. If its the t-45 its an early run 2001 and will have the 10.5" clutch but are you SURE you have a t-45 because 2001 is when the 3650s started going in.

Nah I ran the vin and I'm pretty sure it's a 6.. I have an 02 body with a 00 drivetrain, still 19lb injectors and plastic crossover on the intake..

Ok now I'm confused... if you ran the VIN on an 02 it would come back as a 3650... so not a 6. You also said you have a 2001 in your original post... If it is indeed a 00 drivetrain it should be a t-45 but you should probably make sure.

You can also just get whatever flywheel you want for the clutch you get. You should get a new flywheel anyway or at least get yours resurfaced so just get a 10.5" flywheel and get the cheaper KC clutch.

I was saying......... I have all the body/interior things an 02 would and drivetrain of a 00 I tell everyone that because 01 is so fuked up.. I've had so many people say well you have the double din CD player and the side scoops it has a 3650 and 21lb injectors.. Which is wrong..

Ok, yeah they way you say that is very confusing. You have an early run 2001 model then so get the $161 clutch and call it good. Also, get that intake swapped out to an updated one stat. Last thing you'll want is for that thing to split and puke coolant all over the damn place and it will eventually. If your luck is anything like mine it'll be on your way to work on a day you REALLY can't be late, in traffic and you'll cause a huge logjam and make a bunch of other co-workers late too including your boss.

I just sold a metal crossover PI intake for $100 shipped which is about the going rate. Don't waste your money buying one new. Also for the love of god don't get a Dorman...

Go on the corral classifieds, $100-$125 shipped is the going rate for them, just make damn sure you don't get a Dorman.

The coolant crossover on the old PI intakes is plastic and after awhile it WILL split and puke coolant all over your motor/the ground. Have fun when it happens and you need to get a flatbed to get you home...
