PRAYING for this Mach 1 project

Well im praying to every god I can think of haha today my dad emailed someone on craigslist about a Mach 1 Mustang with a bad motor so it needs a new one which is fine. We offered him 3k which I say is a good deal considering it has been up there for months. If we get this im hoping we can kinda work in it together finish it and ill keep it, since he has hes 02 Steeda he just re did and we can sell mine for 6 or 7K easy. If not well it will still be fun to help him with it. Then sell it.

I understand that but sometimes it can become a money pit and over 150k on the chassis stuff will start to wear out, bushings, seals, shocks, ect

+1, that is a car that is good only for its VIN and with that many miles... you can find a way nicer GT from pretty much any year for $5k than that thing...

Also if this guy is dumb enough to blow up a brand new motor not sure if you want anything to do with it. If it was as simple as a HG he'd get it fixed and sell it for more than $5k as a new motor car with receipts.

it looks like a V6 with GT take offs, what an awful way for a mach to go down. Anyway, If you have the money and time you can make any car look/run good. Judging by the photos it gives me a vibe of abuse/neglect but that's just me. Based on your replies you really want it, so if the deal is good for you by all means. Good luck I've always liked machs.

I don't know. It doesn't look bad from the pics, but they always look better in the pictures than in person. Aside from the recyclables strewn around the interior. That ad would have grabbed my attention also, "Bad Motor". I love that kind. I think my biggest concern is that the ad has been up for months. The good deals get snatched up quick on CL. I'll bet he is sticking to his 5grand or very near. I would make an appointment to see the car in person, if it's close to you, and if its something that you want to make an offer on, have the cash with you and try to make a deal on the spot. It sounds like you know what your getting into project wise. I think that it would make an excellent father-son project and hope you can get it for the right price. If this doesn't work out, there are plenty more out there. It just takes a little work and patience to find them.

It's definitely a Mach 1.......but it's been neglected, abused, slapped around, ect. Someone didn't take pride or much care in this Mach 1. I would ask for the VIN to do a car fax to make sure your not getting a bondo car, find out the car is a salvaged title, or it is a hurricane flood car. I'm just saying and it might be the pictures but the dog house don't look right as in might be all newer or been straighten out after a bad wreck. I understand the enthusiasm and trust me I do I want a Mach 1 very bad but sometimes that enthusiasm can make your rush in too quick. I say slow down do some research go visit it even 2 times if you have to. You can have the money all day long but mentally don't let your excitement ever buy a car let understanding and reasoning buy the car. Think of it this way, even if you do buy it for $3k will it still be as cheap by the end of the build than to just find a Mach 1 with "50k" miles on it. This car is more than just a throw a motor in and drive it build. Like scotty said if he could let a little thing like an overheating issue destroy a $2500 engine.

Also, if you require a numbered car I've come across Bullitts from time to time in the sub $5k range with high miles but running and sometimes pretty well taken care of. They will not command the premium the Mach will either. If all you need is a good body and you are going from the ground up.. get a 96-98 NPI car and go wild. They're DIRT cheap and besides the body panels they're really identical to the 99-up cars when it all boils down to it. Minor differences obviously but everything from the 99-04 years will go in with little-no modification.
