GT vs Ls1

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section, but anyways.. Tonight I was with some of my friends who have imports. This dude comes drifting into the parking lot in an TransAm Ls1. He gets out and is like " you think that mustang can run against my trans am?" And It was pouring outside. (Wasn't really feeling it) so I left and I look over and the Ls1 is right next to me and my buddies all behind me telling me to race him. I just wasn't feeling it, plus the cops tend to be out late in that area. Long story short, I didn't race him tonight. (Which ill probably get a lot of crap from my friends) but who do you think would've won? I don't really know much about Trans Am's.

Yeah I'm anti-street racing. I get a lot of crap for it, but I know it's stupid and I know the consequences that can come from it. I was just curious..didn't know what the Ls1 is pushing

stock they average low to flat 13 second runs if they are a stick shift...modded they are insane. which is why a lot of guys swap ls1 motors in foxes if they are into drag racing.

His was an automatic. That's all I know, seemed like he had an exhaust on it also.

so stock mid 13's...i'm still going to lean toward him out running you. one of the sad reason a lot of ls1 guys have such a big mouth they can back it up.

Yeah he said he's building a supercharger for it right now. But like I said, I don't street race, whether he would beat me or not

It takes a bit of work to beat LS motors. Unfortunately Chevy did a damn good job on those and they make good power. Plus they respond WAY better to mods than our Modular 4.6L. A full bolt on WS6 Trans Am or SS Camaro with a tune will make upwards of 360+ at the tires compared to a full bolt on/tuned GT is about 270 at best.

Probably going to get flakked on this one, but I think LS series motors are superior to any modular except the Coyote. It's the fruit of GM sticking to the same thing over years and years. And yes, that Trans Am will maul you. Build quality on those cars is sub-par, and they're heavy as can be, but they make enough power to compensate.

I agree. The LS line of motors is the single best line out there. The new LSX blocks are even better than the coyote unfortunately. But that's ok, I just had to do a little tweaking and now LS1/2s are no problem. And please don't take this as I love Chevy/ hate Ford because I've owned both and the mustang is much better quality car and you just can't beat the sexy body lines and the sound of that Ford Mod Motor

Yeah I agree, I have to say that my car sounded a lot better than his last night. If I had my supercharger build done with then I might have been able to stand a chance. Haha

"What's it matter" is enough of a statement. I've found that a lot of young guys with fast cars have completely screwed priorities.

Nothing wrong with that. Just the simple fact that you drive the name on the car like all of the mustang community gives you an edge over anyone else. Lol

Other day I was at a light and some guys walked in front of me. A few of them couldn't keep their eyes off of my car, so as they walked by I gave it a small rev... They all started clapping and cheering.

You have to figure though, probably half of the mustang owners out their aren't as enthusiastic as we are about our cars. Our stangs are the pride and joy to us and some just think it's another car sadly saying. Even when I see like a camaro that's nice or a vette, I commend them cause there a car enthusiasts too. Just different taste

Haha yeah I've had that happen. If I see a stang ahead of me and can tell its been modded, then I try to pull up next to them and ask them what they have done to it. Try to get to know the stangs in the area
