Rear end question

Today when I painted my brake calipers, I noticed that the wheel/rear end had play in it. And it sound horrible. Is the play normal? And what can I do to correct it?

Are you saying that the wheel/tire moved in and out of the axle? If so, a little (not sure how much, maybe, 1/8") of that is normal.

Not in and out. The wheel started a revolution while the back(one side) tire was in the air. The sounds came from the rear end. As if it may be low in fluid.
