Gears

thoughts on used gears?

Just inspect them and buy the entire bearing /shim / seal and fluid install kit from late model restoration or American muscle and drive it like u stole it

Depends if they were broke in properly and how many miles are on them. I usually stay away from used parts because you dont know how well they were treated by the previous owner. But you can find great deals on used parts. Just post a pic on here for everyone to check out if you're unsure

Inspect them good, make sure no cracks are on them from bad install. Also no rubbing on the outer blades.

I wouldn't touch them. Especially if they cost a penny more than, say, FREE!!!
It's just not worth the aggravation, if, as stated above, they were maybe installed incorrectly the first time around.
You'd have to shim, so that the ring and pinion mesh in the same place in your rearend as they did in the first one they were installed in.

I had some 3.55s given to my by a buddy. With about 2000 miles on them and when I installed them they made a very slight ringing noise the first night and were good after that.

I can get 3.73 cheap but looking for 4.10 so if find any I'll check them out but I guess just save for new kit.

I see no problem with used gears, but since new gears are cheap, why chance it.
