Hey everyone, i have a feeling i may have a clogged cat or two. Has anyone had this happen to them and what were your symptoms. There is no check engine light, its an 01 Gt 5spd with 72,000miles

My service engine light came on. And I thought I just had a bad O2 sensor. No other symptoms.

Remove the cats and get mil eliminators is the solution.

I know I sounds odd, just have had a lack of power, bad gas mileage then i am used to some slight hesitation and my exhaust doesn't sound free flowing kinda has a restricted tone.

Mines got to the point that my acceleration was bad, couldn't even go over 60 mph. If your in an emission free state or you have a way around emissions I just say go off road bc that's what I did. Nothing is wrong with high flow cats neither though.

I have a feeling this is what's going on in my car. Do you hear a sort of rattling when u press the gas? But then it goes away. I read that cats have to heat up to work, maybe that's why it goes away and comes back?

But I live in CA. Emissions testing SUCKS! Wish I had this car when I lived in New Mexico lol.

Op, does this slight rattling happen to you too? Mine also hesitates a tad when the rattling occurs.

Take it to a mechanic they use a stethoscope (i think that's what it's called) to check if they really are clogged. Plus your car would overheat

I had the same problem on my first mustang v6. I bought some like cleaner at autozone that I put in the fuel and I can't remember the name but it actually helped out and I cleared the code and never came back
