New in the state of NJ

So i have a 2002 mustang gt with o/r h pipes no cats. NJ has the great inspection and emmission stations. Does anyone know if i have to take my car there or can i go to a small shop and get it done. I heard they will fail me for no cats and no check engine light on. I am is south jersey so if anyone can help me out that would be great. I have till december to find out a solution.

It is a federal law to have catalytic converters... Each states smog laws are different, but cats are a federal law. I'm in Cali, and for cars 2000 and newer they plug it into the computer to see that all the systems are running properly, and they do the visual inspection. Idk about NJ but if they do a visual inspection they will fail you because of no cats, and if they do the sniff test then you are probably going to fail because you have no cats.

What i did when i got my O/R Prochamber, I kept the stock midpipe and put it in my addict at home, so when it comes time for me to smog it all i need to do is put the stock pipe back on, reset my tune to stock, drive about 100 miles to reset my computer and then i should be all good.

You can take your car to any shop that has the NJ state emission testing sticker posted.Yes, they do a visual check for the cats. and yes they plug up to your car OBDII port to check the emission level. if no check engine light comes on they will fail you also.
