Well I found my coolant leak yesterday as I pulled into work. My intake manifold decided to take a crap on me and start pouring coolant out. I'm going to replace it with an OE. What else should I think about replacing while I'm in there? I'm replacing the intake gaskets, and t-stat and gasket.

the intake is a common mishap on the new edge isn't it?

terrible, I wish I had more productive input for this lol

I was just informed that the OE intake has a plasic crossover on the back and you might look into replacing it with an aftermarket like this with the metal crossover? that's just a thought tho

Looks like you have it covered.
The only other thing that I can think of is, to clean up the TB and plenum real good while you have it apart. You might even send the fuel injectors out for a good cleaning, depending on the mileage...

Well the intake I got was not OE and doesn't fit. It was a Dorman and everything lined up except one side of the spark plugs. The intake covers a 1/4 of each hole on the passenger side. So now I gotta wait til I get the one I need.

I have heard horror story after horror story with these Dorman intakes...by all accounts, go OE/FRPP. Hopefully you're able to get money back or $$ applied to an actual viable part :/

EDIT: As for anything else to do while ur in there, how long since the water pump has been replaced? If its the same 123k then spring another 60 bucks for one from rockauto or steeda

It is original also. I was thinking about doing that also. when I drained all the coolant out of the engine it was kinda darkish and I just changed the coolant maybe a year and a half ago so it had me wondering about the fins deteriorating. Ill look on steeda at the water pumps.

Yeah just so i can clarify, steeda stocks the OE waterpump for the cheapest price, rockauto is a tad more, everywhere else seems to think they're solid gold.

I've got a small leak on my intake (bad gasket), or'd a replacement from RA and with 92k on the clock i figured while im in there i may as well do a full coolant flush and replace the water pump. Figured there's no sense in chancing that lol. My latest prob is, tomorrow is 3 months since i got laid off, so extra pony funds arent exactly a high priority at the mo...

Anyways, my .02

Dunno the pros/cons of using RP coolant, but i don't see any reason not too. At least not after flushing the system clean, imho

I'm not sure, but our intakes are cheaply made, I'm sure they fixed that problem with the 05-09 lol

I can't say anything bad about it. I haven't put much money into her. Since I've bought her I've only put both wheel bearings, plugs and boots, and flush of all fluids. Been pretty lucky

If I had all the parts right then and there it took me 4 hours to do everything. Beings that I had to wait for all my parts I waited 5 days lol. It's a fairly simple job in my eyes.
