Poor gas mileage. How to improve?

I have a 2000 GT and I am getting terrible gas mileage. I understand the car is a V8 and is not going to sip gas, but currently I am getting 11 MPG I only drive from my house to work, which round trip is 25 miles.

Is there anything I can do to try and improve the gas mileage? I am just driving the car normal not like racing or speeding.

What gears are you running in your car? If you have 3.73s drop downto a 3.30, get a tune, is its manual? If so try going 2-4-6 shifting

I am not sure on the gears, my car is an automatic. I am assuming everything is stock so whatever stock would be.

The basics like oil change, filter change that kinda stuff?

Also air filter, spark plugs, fuel additive, serpentine belt, make sure you don't have any brake rubbing due to a seized caliper pin etc.

Fuel filter as well. +1 on a tuner if the basics don't work.

I did my plugs and air & fuel filters all at the same time a few k ago, mpg now hovering around 16 for all city driving (manual trans), and i dont baby it lol. Have done a couple of those Lucas fuel additives too over the months.

Hey I had the same problem with my 00GT automatic, I did a full tune up ie;

Spark plugs
Oil change
Fuel filter
Belt
Trans fluid & filter
Cleaned the throttle body & MAF
New CAI. With a bama tune a I seen a major difference

Bad O2 sensors will make the car run rough also, it would be noticeable if the sensors were bad.

If your driving on the highway try setting the cruise control between 60 and 68 MPH. Just a thought. The tune up should help along with O2 sensors.

Spark plugs
Clean throttle body out
You can throw a additive in your tank
Clean your injectors out
New fuel filter
Oil Change
Just clean your coil packs and make sure they are lubed and not all messy
