Spark plugs? Idle issue as well

Before I install my SR Intake, the idle was i guess okay. It would drop down to 500 and go back up to 1000 Rpms when I push the clutch in. I watch a video about the idle control valve. And it could be it. But the part is like 130 bucks for motorcraft oem. Dura last is 40 bucks.

Now since I install cold intake, the idle seems a bit ruff and when I'm going 60 or any speed. I can feel like something is jerking me back every 10 -20 seconds.

1998 GT.

Haven't checked but feels like it. I've disconnected the Battery for a bit so the cold intake wouldn't cause a check engine light.

Seems like you have a COP going bad, thats what mine did. At this point u might see the CEL come one for a second or two or maybe not yet. If you see ur CEL come one when it jerks id say thats it and get a COP and the hex driver and keep it in the car for when it goes bad. I always keep one in the trunk anyway.

I just notice u said ur cel is on all the time anyway. Well go ahead and get a COP just in case and when it goes bad you'll know coz ur running on 7 cylinders.

Now i just noticed you have a 98? So no COPs. Then spark plug, wire, or coil pack. Did you ever replace that coil pack?
Anyway, def sounds like a misfire, thats usually easier to diagnose when its constant i.e. running on 7 cylinders.

Is the screaming demon coil pack any good? Ask because they come in 2 pair. MSD comes with only 1 each.

Plan to stick with oem motorcraft plugs and get ford racing wires.

Lola never eh? They're the Fram of the ignition world. Their ignition boxes are especially bad. You wouldnt catch me with a MSD product near my car. I go with Crane if I go aftermarket.

Like Fram, MSD goes off a ****load of marketing and name recognition. The products themselves are meh quality wise and you can get a better product for the same price if you know what's what. As far as Fram, their orange cans of death are aptly named but if you drop $12 on their better ones the quality is decent. And you will have wasted $6 since you can get a Wix filter for half that but I digress...

Don't. You won't save any money because they'll **** out on you well before the Motorcraft ones. Also, OEM Ford units are $45 each on Rockauto. Also you can just change the boot and spring of your current COPs and see what that does vs replacing them. $30 gets you enough boots/springs/etc... to do all 8.

Look around, you'll find plenty of negative MSD stuff on forums. Their ignition boxes in particular are ****. Internals wise they look like they are put together by a 6 yr old with a hot glue gun.

Agreed, if you replace coil packs, ONLY buy OEM Ford units.
