quiet motor

does any one have a silent engine in there mustang. mine wines makes all kinds of noise

Only silent motors I've ever heard being in the automotive industry is a Prius or a electric car

lol I know its a v8 but sounds like ****. figured out its my idler pulley today so picked up a new one and a belt... any one know if this should be torqued down or just tight

I payed 63 for the idler pully and a new belt... I think it was around 30 and the belt was about the same

The tension pulley can make bad sounds also. Try rockauto for replacement

Idler pulley and belt was around 40 at the store

Believe my tensioner pulley is going bad. Started a squealing sound the other day. Got my answers from this thread thanks.

Usually could just be the belt
Changed my belt and no more squeal

Hmm a shot of WD-40 stopped the squeal for a day. Still the belt?

Don't use spray conditioner or anything else on the belt! I learned that the hard way. Just get a new belt

Well it just hit 31,000 miles so it's due for a change. Not sure if the previous owner ever did it. Change the tensioner pulley too.
