410 Horror story pt. 2

Okay so I took my car to get gears , and the first time I drove out it was whining , so they had to re-shim them. Well let's just say they had to re-shim them around 6 times now. It was never right, and supposedly one of my spider gears was damaged , so today they replaced it for free and put it together , it didn't solve the problem.

They took my rear end to a real diff shop and they told him my whole rear end was damaged.
" That it was damaged before I took it to him "
Which that is total bull****
They have a brand new diff set there for 135.00
So after arguein with him for a hour we agreed that I'll pay 65 and he pay 65 for the new diff. And he will have it ready tonight.

So fingers crossed I'll have my car back after 4-5 days of being in that shop.

Is it even possible for the "real" mechanic to even know that?

Man. It's just a gear swap, not friggin quantum mechanics lol I don't understand how people who pretend to be reputable mechanics can foil up something like this. Anyways, glad you got the ride back and hopefully you can walk away from this and take your business elsewhere

Did they use a new crush sleeve when originally installing the 4.10s, or since dicking around with them? A new crush sleeve is essential when changing from 3.27s to 4.10s.

Also, after what you have been through the new gears could very well be trashed, do you have any photos of them?

I'm not sure ,

When I asked the guy he said they install gears all by feel ..

Didn't even use paint dye or grease to see if it was center
