Is it left hand or right hand thread

Ok mustang mechanics is this a left or right hand thread. Also what's the best way to get the bolt loosen. It spins every time I try to get it off and cannot think of a way to stop it.

Side note I'm replacing the passenger side tensioner and will be removing the timing cover. Will I need and special tools?

Thanks everyone

I will assume you are referring to the crank pulley nut, if so it is right-hand thread. You need to use an impact wrench, or crank pulley holding tool to hold the pulley while you loosen the bolt.

Do not allow the engine to turn backwards a lot as there is a possibility of messing up the valve timing due to the timing chain "jumping"...

i actually read on a forum just after i posted it, they said put the car in 5th gear and turn, Got it right off, now what the secret to getting it off? A giant pulley puller?

I have a smaller pulley puller but im having trouble getting the black pull off (one to the right of the rusted one)

any ideas?

You need a proper harmonic balancer puller

I'll add that to the list.

How do you get this pulley off? The one I'm pointing a pencil at?
