Mine ticks. Not too loud.
I was hoping that you would figure it out so I'd know what it is...

Lets just say there is a reason for the loud exhaust, loud music, and windows rolled down.... I used to drive all city miles and wouldn't really hear anything, but now that I'm driving all highway miles omg there are so many ticks, rattles and squeaks that I hear and it drives me nuts if I don't blast music lol.

Mine ticks, but I can only hear it when. The hood is up. I just ignore it, it's definitely not coming from the inside of the engine.

I have a 2000 gt auto with 189000 miles on her. I bought her off the showroom floor with 2.7 miles on it. Mine started ticking about 4 years and 50000 miles ago. I had one tick that was a loose bolt on the ac bracket that took me forever to find. That's an easy check just go over all bolts that you can find first. The other tick is somewhere in the motor. I figure it is just because of normal wear. I change my oil every 5000 miles and only use 5 20 motorcraft oil and filters. All I ever had done to the engine is new alternator, tensioner , and new intake due to cracking. I changed the plugs 4 times and still have original cops and injectors. My tic is mostly at idle so it may be a weak oil pump but seems good above idle. Could be timing chain guides also. Main thing is if it is fatal do you want to replace just the worn parts or drive till it breaks and do rebuild with upgraded internals?

Let the tick be with you! It'll be alright man. Get a system or loudmouths and you'll never know there is a tick again.

Mine are bolts that always comes loose, from the radiator, I just added some grease and less noise from engine but still some tick tick tick when I am at full stop, so what a friend told me the only way to get rid of noises is high music

Haha good I am glad to hear that..that tick was gonna be the death of me i swear I was gonna lose it one day and drive that car off a cliff it annoyed me so bad.

It's just normal valvetrain noise more than likely. It's kind of the same principle as all my family's SBC V8s have a distinct valvetrain noise, even my girlfriends V6 impala makes the noise. Just like all of our mustangs have distinct noises.

on another note, you think your valvetrain noise is bad...go listen to a 4v's valvetrain noise

Yours could be a loose bracket

If you have a few dollars to spare then take it to a shop so they can properly diagnose it.
