Also try looking at your TR sensor. See if it may be rusting the shaft and breaking the plastic housing causing it not to shift right. And also the cable needs to be replaced because it is probably stretch pretty good. It will look like this

UPDATE:

Took the stang to a family mechanic we know. He said the shifter cable was rusted and had holes in it. Ordering one tonight.

He will also do any mods for me. Complete PI head and intake swap for $500. I don't know how so that's why I would have him do it

If that includes the price of the heads/intake then that's amazing. If not that's still pretty good. Make sure you get a PI intake that has the metal coolant crossover or you WILL leak coolant.

$500 labor. For installing heads and intake. I think that's pretty good. He's a fair older gentleman.

And it's on eBay, a complete PI swap kit. From
MPSAUTOSALVAGE, $750

That seems very steep especially if the heads are used. What does it come with?

Intake, heads, all the gaskets and bolts. Let me check, I think they're new or like cleaned up
