Paint Mirrors

I was wanting to paint the rearview mirrors to match the color of my car. Right now they are the textured black. Can anyone give me some info on how to go about this? Anyone have any pics of doing this with a mineral gray mustang?

A lot of body shops or people who wanna get the textures out they build up the primer layer to get the texture outta stuff. Then paint it to match. If you dont have the stuff just have a local shop do it.

I wanted to do it myself. Kinda thought that I could sand the texture off, then prime, then paint using Duplicolor Color Match. But didn't know if anyone had a step by step.

Youll need to scuff the mirrors pretty good and spray an adhesive promoter. Then do several layers of priming and sanding amd priming until the texture is not visible after the last coat. Then seal it. Paint it. I dont the the arisol primer is gonna build like wat you need to do it. Best bet would be buy a cheap spray gun from harbor freight and some nason dupont primer from O'Reillys and go that route. Then duplicolor paint it.

He is right did mine on my old truck it takes a lot of sanding to get then off and make sure you use a plastic flex agent in the paint or it will start to chip pretty fast it's a lot of work but so worth it in the end after you do it post some pics

Previous owner painted mine. They match the cars paint almost perfectly. If mine were the stock blacks, I would definitely take the time to do it. Sorry if its hard to see. I may try to get a better pic tomorrow.
