Gears

What rear end gears came stock on a 97 gt. I'm thinking of buying new gears but would like to know what I have now.

Auto - 2.73
Manual - 3.08
Optional - 3.27

Your door might say what it is. Or on your differential will have a tag. Or you can test it with turning the tire and see how many time your driveshaft rotates.

Your window sticker should show your your axle's gears & diff type.
Try this handy dandy Ford link to see your window sticker.
At the end of this link, add your VIN number.
http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...icker.pdf?vin=
Don't add a space after the "=", just add your VIN.
I'm not sure how far back you can go, but 1997 should be covered.

What type of gears are you thinking of going with? I've got 4.10's in my weekend/ strip driven 2001 Bullitt and I kinda wish I had gone with 3.73s or 3.90s. It's not the mileage that makes me think that way either. Just piece of mind from someone with real-world experience.
